When I was growing up, the question-of-the-day I always asked my mom was, "What's for dinner?" Does this sound familiar? While I don't have any children as of yet, who would have thought that the same question I harassed my mother with day after day would be one of my husband's favorites!
Many of us, when asked that question, find ourselves scrambling last minute to throw something together. Typically, this involves going to the store, picking up take-out or fast-food, or trying to be "creative" by scrounging for random ingredients in your pantry/fridge/freezer. By being reactive instead of proactive, we find ourselves making multiple trips to the grocery store throughout the week, wasting time, wasting money, and often sacrificing nutrition.
How can we avoid these self-inflicted inconveniences? Try menu planning! By sitting down at the beginning of every week to plan out your meals, you will find that you are not only prepared, but also that you have the ability to make sure that your family is eating nutritiously. Think you are up to the challenge? Give it a try! Download Weekly Menu Planner.
